Ferriday Homecoming Friday Ferriday High limps into Homecoming as the Trojans host Northwood High of Lena Friday at Melz Field. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
"They are coached by Tom O'Kelly, who has been there a long time," Harrison said. "They are having a real good year and playing hard. They really could be 4-0 at this game."
Northwood is 2-2 on the season, defeating Tensas Parish, 38-24, lost to Grambling, 6-0 and blanked Lakeview, 30-0 last week.
O'Kelly, who is in his 20th year as coach at Northwood, had to replace Central Louisiana's rushing leader from 2006 in Willie Key and the entire offensive line from a squad that claimed its first district title and first nine-win season. Akeem Joiner replaces Key as the Gators' primary running back. Northwood had at least a 1,100-yard rusher each of the previous four seasons. Key had 1,694 yards in 2006 and 1,133 in 2005 and Cory Evans had 1,497 yards in 2004 and 1,200 in 2003.
Harrison will be without seven players who are nursing injuries, including receiver DeVante Scott, William Greer and Michael Oliver.
"We're going to have to shift people around," Harrison said. "Other kids just have to step up. If you are here or not, you just need to show up and be ready to play. We'll go with what we've got."
Harrison said he doesn't worry about Homecoming being a distraction.
"Homecoming is Homecoming," he said. "I can't do anything about it. That's for the people to give them what they want. |
