Story Archives: Huntington visits Tallulah

Huntington visits Tallulah
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Huntington came within three points of scoring 50 points last year against Tallulah Academy.

Hound head coach Chad Harkins will be surprised if Huntington can repeat those offensive numbers this week when the Hounds travel to Tallulah for an MPSA District 6-A contest.

"They are a lot more physical this year," Harkins said. "They are a lot more organized and their coach (Douglas Branning) is doing a good job. They had Trinity 7-0 before their halfback and fullback got hurt and Trinity jumped all over them."

Huntington has the best power point rating in District 6-A at 10.857. Defending state champion Glenbrook, which lost to 2A River Oaks Friday, is second at 10.714, while Tallulah, Huntington's opponent this week, is third at 9.143.

The top two teams in District 6-A will host first round playoff games this season.

"This is another deal where we want to go out and improve from last week," Harkins said. "We need to continue playing hard and play the entire game. We can't let them have early success and get the momentum early against us."
