Huntington hosts Claiborne

With a district championship no longer in the picture, Huntington's football team turns its attention to the playoffs as the Hounds host Claiborne Academy.

Huntington, 6-3 overall and 6-1 in district, fell to Glenbrook Academy 33-12 Friday in a game to decide the district championship. The Hounds will be celebrating Homecoming Friday.

"I hope our guys are focused," said Huntington head coach Chad Harkins. "We have to finish this thing out and work on some things to get us better down the road."

Claiborne is 3-6 overall and 3-4 in district. The Rebels are coming off a 45-8 win over Franklin Academy last week.

"Anytime you win one it's good after you have been struggling so hard," said Claiborne coach Tommy Reeder. "We were finally able to move the ball a little bit, got some good blocking and played pretty good defense."

Reeder said his Rebel team does not match up well with Huntington.

"They are a good football team, have good size and speed and are very well coached," Reeder said. "Their offense is so hard to deal with unless you can match up personnel-wise. It's going to be very difficult."

Huntington closes out its season at home against Columbia.

"We need to finish up 8-3 and get into the playoffs focused and ready," Harkins said.
