Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber predicted a high turnout Tuesday for the November 4 general election following a heavy early voting period in Concordia when about 10 percent of the electorate cast ballots.
VIDALA WINS AGAIN IN COMFORT SUITE SUIT
The City of Vidalia has won its third court victory in a row in its legal battle with Comfort Suites. The Louisiana State Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Vidalia Riverfront Development District on Tuesday in what has been a long-running court battle initiated by Comfort Suites' owner Virgil F. Jackson over a six percent occupancy sales tax.
POLICE JURY GETS CLEAN AUDIT FOR 2008
The Concordia Parish Police Jury ended the 2007 fiscal year with assets exceeding liabilities by $7,429,745, CPA Myles Hopkins of Silas Simmons told jurors Monday night.
