Cathedral snaps losing streak Cathedral High snapped a four-game losing streak as the Green Wave defeated Pisgah, 48-27 Friday at D'Evereaux Stadium.
"We're trying to get to .500 and this gives us a chance," said Cathedral coach Craig Beesley. "We're playing for pride and I was proud of the way the kids came out and played hard."
Pisgah scored the first two touchdowns.
Cathedral scored three touchdowns in the second period as Person Edwards and Daniel Huffines hooked up on a 45-yard pass play and Edwards found Kole Junkin on a 35-yard pass play for another score.
Edwards and Junkin teamed up on a 20-yard pass to tie the game at 21-21 at halftime.
"Preston and Kole had big games on offense and Hunter Foster did a good job on defense," Beesley said. "Hunter is just back after breaking his leg in baseball."
Cathedral outscored Pisgah 27-6 in the second half, scoring all 27 points in the third period.
"We caught a lot of breaks in the third quarter," Beesley said. "Throughout the year we haven't had many, then they seemed to all come at one time."
Edwards scored on runs of one and six yards, Junkin scored on a 38-yard run and Daniel Jenkins had a 31-yard TD run.
Cathedral has an open date Friday before ending its season at West Lincoln on Nov. 7.
"That's just the way the schedule broke down for us," Beesley said. "If we go over to West Lincoln and play well I think we have a good chance." |
