Huntington's Loomis sixth at State Huntington senior Drew Loomis placed sixth in the MPSA Class A State Cross Country meet, finishing with a time of 20:00.30.
Loomis was named to the Class A All-State team for his performance.
"Drew has not been able to run in any meets because of football," said Huntington cross country coach Penny Moak. "He has been running on his own. He told me before the race he didn't know what it would be like. I think the less pressure helped him run his personal best. We're proud for him."
Huntington's boys finished sixth in the meet wtih 143 points. DeSoto was the Class A champion for the sixth time with 48 points, followed by Deer Creek with 99 and Veritas School with 103. Glenbrook was fourth at 109.
The Lady Hounds placed eighth with 180 points. Benton Academy won state with 37 points, followed by The Veritas School.
"It was cold and that effects different runners in different ways," Moak said.
Freshman Anthony Olds placed 14th in the boys event with a time of 21:47.09.
Seventh-grader Ian Black was 36th at 24:37.21, while seventh-grader Tyler Stockstill placed 39th at 25:03.11. Junior Colby Gray placed 50th at 26:15.23.
Leading the Lady Hounds was junior Abi Brown, placing 30th with a time of 16:35.71.
Freshman Natali Tarver was 36th at 17:05.27, while senior Julie Moak was 37th at 17:05.99.
Seventh-garder Adalyn Boyd ran a 20:21.08, while seventh-grader Kelsi Tarver and seventh-grader Cori Lynn Anselmi both ran 20:26. |
