Funeral services for David Leon Doles, 86, of Ferriday were held Saturday, November 1, 2008, 10 a.m. at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Williams officiating.

Burial followed at Pine Grove Cemetery in Bastrop under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Doles was born August 22, 1929 in Jones, LA, to Willis F. and Seabelle B. Doles. He passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at his residence.

A longtime resident of Ferriday and a member of Clayton Baptist Church, he was a 1943 graduate of Louisiana State University and served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Doles was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, W. F. Doles Jr.; two sisters, Carmen D. Grandstaff and Fannie D. Lea.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn G. Doles of Ferriday; two daughters, Jeanette D. Webb and husband, Jessie, of Kisastchie, and Diane Doles of Ferriday; two sisters, Mildred Lupo of Mandeville and Peggy Drude of Baytown, TX; and a grandchild, Austin David Burr.

Pallbearers were John Lupo, Charles Lupo, Raymond Lea, Michael Jordan, Jerry Doles, George Drude, Sean Milliken, Don Doles and John Rife.

Honorary pallbearers were Dave Doles, Jack Doles, Jesse Webb, Claude Current and Jerry Green.
