Huntington rallies past Columbia

Joey Roberts and Andreas Swanson teamed up on a 21-yard touchdown play with 8:51 remaining to give Huntington a 30-26 win over Columbia Friday in Ferriday in the Hounds' final regular season game.

"It was the best we've played in the second half this year," said Huntington coach Chad Harkins. "The kids were more focused."

Huntington hosts Newton Friday in a first round playoff contest - the first playoff game to be played at Huntington since 1988.

Huntington was originally scheduled to play Class AA Oak Forest Academy, but the Yellow Jackets had to postpone a game against Silliman because of Hurricane Gustav.

Oak Forest was forced to play Silliman on Friday and fortunately Columbia was scheduled to play Silliman.

After the winning score, Brad Thibodeaux and Jordan Wilson came up with sacks to preserve the win.

"We had a couple of guys come through with good pressure," Harkins said.

Columbia led 26-16 early in the third period.

Josh Lee had a 1-yard scoring run and kicked the point-after to tie the game at 7-7 before Jeremy Randall scored on a 4-yard run.

Randall finished with 93 yards on 16 carries. Roberts completed 5-of-6 passes for 62 yards, completing three to Tyler Pere´ for 44 yards.
