Sara Corinne Harris Peterman, 92, died Friday, November 7, 2008, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland after a brief illness.

Graveside services were held Monday, November 10, 2008, 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Peterman was born June 29, 1916, in Ethel, MS, the daughter of Sanford and Estelle Harris. She was employed as a registered nurse in the Jackson area for 40 years before retiring in 1981.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Leonard Peterman; her son, Lester Leonard "Pete" Peterman Jr.; three sisters, Mavis Hickman, Elizabeth Penault and Tommie Adams; and one niece, Dr. Anita Larson.

Survivors include one sister, Ellyn Harris Stewart of Jackson; three grandchildren, Tracy Peterman Kinnett and husband, Joey, both of Hernando, MS, Nicholas P. Peterman and financée, Cindy Thornton, both of Vidalia, Mark A. Peterman and wife, Vanessa, both of Baton Rouge and their mother, Leinda K. Peterman of Natchez; eight great-grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Kinnett, Tiffany Nicole Perrin and husband, Stan, Jordan David Kinnett, Sarah Marie Kinnett, Lindsey Ellyn Peterman, Halle Brooke Peterman, John Alexander "Jack" Peterman and Mark Andrew Peterman Jr.; one great-great-grandchild, Bennett Ray Perrin; one niece, Jane Clemmons and husband, James; and two nephews, Dr. John Adams and wife, Dian, and Novice Adams and wife, Janet.

Pallbearers were Mark Peterman, Nicholas Peterman, Joey Kinnett, Jordan Kinnett, Stanley Perrin II, Dr. John Adams and Novice Adams.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Lester "Pete" Peterman Scholarsip Fund, c/o Tom O'Neal at Concordia Parish School Board.
