Block hosts Desire Street

Block High hosts Desire Street Academy Friday in Jonesville in A Class A first round playoff contest.

Block is seeded No. 9, while the Lions are seeded No. 24.

"They play in a tough district around Baton Rouge," said Block coach Benny Vault. "They are big and fast and remind me of the old Delhi teams. They make plays on defense and are well disciplined."

Block High scored 20 points in the second quarter on its way to a 34-12 win over Lakeview Thursday night in Campti.

After Lakeview scored first, Block scored the next five touchdowns as John Bloodsaw and Vashawn Davis each ran for scores and Curdarius Johnson tossed touchdown passes to LaDarrius Collins and Tevin O'Steen.

Preston Bowman returned an interception 101 yards for another score.

"They run the double wing like we do and it took us a drive to figure out who had the ball," Vault said. "We finally started tackling everybody."
