Vidalia defeats Bastrop in Franklin Parish

Vidalia High defeated Bastrop 51-35 Monday in the first day of the Franklin Parish Tournament.

Vidalia scored only five points in the first quarter and 18 in the first half, but still led by one point.

"We knew Bastrop liked to play a slow down game," said Vidalia coach Robert Sanders. "We weren't patient enough in the first quarter."

Gary Stewart and Torrie Dixon led Vidalia with 11 points each.

Vidalia's girls fell to Richwood by 37 points.

On Tuesday, action tips off at noon with Tensas and Block meeting in a gisl game, followed by Delhi Charter against Vidalia's girls.Vidalia faces Tensas in a boys game at 2:40 p.m., followed by Franklin Parish against Bastrop om a girls game.

Richwood girls meet Gramblng, followed by Sicily Island against Bastrop in a boys game.

Franklin Parish's boys meet Grambling at 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, Richwood meets Tensas in a girls game, followed by Franklin Parish's girls taking on Grambling.

Vidalia and Block meet in a girls game, followed by Grambling against Tensas' boys.

In the final game of the night, Franklin Parish takes on Vidalia in a boys game.
