Huntington sweeps Central

Huntington got a pair of wins at the Huntington Doubleheader Monday, sweeping Central Academy of Grand Cane.

The Huntington boys defeated Central 76-18, leading 18-6 after one period and 43-6 at halftime.

Tyler Pere´ led Huntington with 32 points, while Jeremy Randall added 14 and Kevin Brown 11.

The Lady Hounds defeated Central 32-29 as Sara Hoover netted 10 points and Abi Brown added eight.

"Central had a couple of players suspended and they were short-handed," said Huntington coach Nicky Pere.´ "Our girls fought hard in close game. We are without Briana Olds who hurt her elbow in Silliman, so we were already low in numbers. Hopefully we'll get her back in two weeks."

Oak Forest swept ACCS in other tournament action.

The tournament concluded Tuesday.

Huntington's girls faced Tensas Parish, while Huntington's boys took on Red River.

Because of early Thanksgiving deadlines, results of Tueday's play will be in next week's paper.
