Rachel Pecanty nailed a 3-pointer with a minute remaining and Kendall Lipsey made a 12-foot shot at the buzzer to give the Monterey Lady Wolves a 36-34 win over LaSalle Tuesday in Olla.

Monterey had the ball with 6.7 second remaining and Lipsey received an in-bounds pass from Brooke Baker before hitting the winning shot.

The Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Tigers 8-4 in the final period.

"We picked up our defensive intensity in the second half," said Monterey coach Cary Shively.

Monterey trailed 10-6 after one period and 24-22 at halftime. Both teams scored six points in the third period.

Ariel Hector led Monterey with nine points, scoring all of her points in the second quarter.

Kristen Lipsey added seven, making 3-of-5 free throws in the final period.

Pecanty scored six points on two 3-point shots.

Monterey's boys fell to LaSalle.

The Monterey Tournament begins Thursday.
