Lady Vikings rout Sicily Island Vidalia's Lady Vikings have watched a lot of teams score 70 or more points against them the past several years.
The Lady Vikings turned that around Tuesday night in their first home game, defeating Sicily Island, 71-28.
"I don't know the last time we scored 70 points," said Lady Viking coach Damus Smith. "It's been a long time. We scored 63 at Sicily Island. We're in better condition this year and pressing more. The girls are playing much better and getting away from that fear factor. We needed some good things to happen early for us and now we're sitting at 3-3 and that really helps the girls' confidence."
Vidalia led 26-6 after one period and 55-16 at halftime as substitutes took over in the second half.
Alaina Burns led the Lady Vikings with 23 points, while Erika Brown added 16 and Dejanae Harris 12.
Vidalia's boys fell to Sicily Island 46-45 in their home opener.
Sicily Island led 11-8 after one period and the game was tied at 19-19 at the halfway point.
The Tigers outscored the Vikings 15-12 in the third quarter.
Karlos Gary led Sicily Island with 16 points.
Vidalia was led by Torrey Dixon with 20.
Vidalia hosts its tournament beginning Thursday. |
