J. B. "Red" Wright Funeral services for J. B. "Red" Wright, 78, of Ferriday, were held at Ridgecrest Baptist Church on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Don Bush and Bro. Preston Holder officiating.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Wright was born May 8, 1930, in Jonesville and passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge.
He was a resident of Ferriday. He retired after 33 years of service as a supervisor at the Armstrong Rubber Plant and was a charter member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Mr. Wright proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Vidalia Masonic Lodge #305 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Huffman and Elsie Hoyt; father, Jullian Curtis Wright; and his mother, Jewel Wright.
Survivors include his wife, Fern Wright of Ferriday; daughters, Sherrie Collier and husband, Bobby, of Denham Springs, Terrie Thompson and husband, Wilbert, of Denham Springs; brother, James Wright and sister-in-law, Janice Wright of Ferriday; sister, Marie Johnson of Texarkana, AR; grandchildren, Jennifer and Burlie Sholar, Cory and Shana Thompson, Jason Thompson and Clint Thompson and friend Melody Counts; and one great-grandchild, Beau Sholar.
Pallbearers were Cory Thompson, Brandon Johnson, Aaron Wright, Jason Thompson, Clint Thompson, and Beau Sholar. |
