Lady Wolves down Avoyelles Charter Monterey High split a pair of games at Avoyelles Charter Tuesday as the girls defeated the Lady Saints 42-23, while the boys fell 50-35in Mansura.
The Lady Wolves snapped a four-game losing streak with the win.
"With the exception of the Block game, we were in all of those games," said Monterey coach Cary Shively. "We're still learning and with more games the girls gain experience and become more focused."
Monterey's girls scored as many points in the second half as the Lady Saints had the entire game.
Monterey led 10-2 after one period and 19-6 at halftime.
Kendall Lipsey led the Lady Wolves with 14 points, scoring eight points in a 21-point Lady Wolf third period.
Kristen Lipsey added eight and Rachel Pecanty seven.

Sophomore Josh Chapman led Monterey with 19 points, while Ross Lipsey added 10 points.
Monterey's boys defeated Harrisonburg in its first game of the Harrisonburg Tournament last week after falling to the Bulldogs in the finals of the Monterey Tournament.
The Wolves dropped their next two games in the Harrisonburg Tournament.
The Lady Wolves fell to Block in their first game of the Harrisonburg Tournament before coming up short against Grace Christian, 36-33.
Monterey plays at St. Joseph Thursday before the Christmas break.
Monterey returns to action after the break on January 2 with home games against Natchez Cathedral. |
