Funeral services for Henry Edward Cockerham Sr., 78, of Ferriday were held today, Wednesday December 17, 2008, 10 a.m. at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Preston Holder and the Rev. Ronnie Wesberry officiating.

Burial followed at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Cockerham was born July 7, 1930, in Clayton, the son of Oran and Ruth Cockerham. He passed away Monday, December 15, 2008, in Ferriday.

He was a retired oil field worker and commercial fisherman. He was a lifelong resident of Concordia Parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leeora Cockerham; one brother, Thomas Cockerham; and one sister, Deanie Walls.

Survivors include one son, Henry E. Cockerham and wife, Mitzie, of Vidalia; four daughters, Catherine Dupree and husband, Thomas, of Port Arthur, TX, Martha Oliveaux of Jackson, Linda Lucas and husband, Ernie, and Cynthia Smith and husband, Walice, all of Ferriday; two sisters, Bessie Wesberry and Allie Fitt, both of Ferriday; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Hank Cockerham, Lucas Cockerham, Jewell Burr, Buddy Smith, Doyle Seymour and Herman Cockerham.

Honorary pallbearer was Junior Wall.
