Ferriday splits with Madison

Ferriday High split a pair of games with Madison Parish Friday in Ferriday as the Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Jaguars 55-53.

Ferriday led 13-10 after one period and 30-18 at halftime.

Both teams scored 15 points in the third period before Madison rallied in the final quarter, pulling to within a basket.

Jasmine Upchurch led Ferriday with 20 points, while Atasia Banks added 13 and Chante Poole 10.

"We haven't playd Madison since they were in our district so we were looking forward to this game," said Ferriday coach Lisa Abron. "They have an outstanding program so this was a good win for us. We lost our composure and turned it over in the final quarter, but managed to come out with the win."

Ferriday's boys fell to Madison in the final game of the night.

The Trojans jumped ahead of Madison 15-13 in the first period before Madison took a 32-27 halftime lead.

Madison led 50-44 after three quarters.

"We've been close in a lot of games, we want to win one now," said first-year Ferriday coach Glen Henderson. "We just can't keep that consistency. But I feel like we're getting there."

Carlton Robinson led Ferriday with 19 points, while Dan Garrison added 14 and DeMarco Lewis 10.
