New associate degrees to be offered at LTC in Ferriday Beginning in the spring 2009 semester, Louisiana Technical College Shelby M. Jackson Campus will offer new associate degrees in accounting and office systems technology.
The degrees were approved by the Louisiana Community and Technical College Board of Supervisors at their December meeting. An associate degree in Information and Communications Technology: Networking Support is already offered by the college.
"We are excited about the addition of two new degree programs and general education classes," said Mignonne Ater, Louisiana Technical College Shelby M. Jackson Campus Dean. "LTCSMJ strives to provide its students with a well-rounded education, producing better employees for local businesses."
The programs will include technical courses, plus five general education courses that are transferable to a four-year institution. Offered either on-site, by compressed video or online, the general education courses include College Algebra, Psychology, Speech, Physical Science and English Composition. These general education courses can also be used to meet the academic requirements for students planning to enter an RN program at a four-year college or university.
Registration for Spring '09 semester begins on Jan. 5 and classes begin on Jan. 12
