Funeral services for Sam Thomas Jr., 82, of Ferriday will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009, 11 a.m. at Greater St. Reed Baptist Church in Ferriday with Pastor Justin Conner officiating.
Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, January 2, 2009, 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Thomas was born December 27, 1926, in Ferriday to Sam and Laura Brown Thomas. He passed away December 27, 2008, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.
He was a truck driver and veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include six brothers, Joe Lee Thomas of Dallas, TX, Gip Thomas and wife, Artasia, of Orange, TX, Isaac Thomas and wife, Beatrice, of Lake Charles, Johnny Thomas of Monroe, Willie Thomas and wife, Audrey, Richard Thomas and wife, Ingrid, all of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Sarah Thomas of Ferriday and Mildred Thomas of Monroe; one aunt, Dorothy Brackens of Ferriday; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. |
