Funeral services for Eudice Edward Evans, 70, of Violet, formerly of Monterey, will be held today, Wednesday, December 31, 2008, 2 p.m. at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday. Carl Ellard and Horace Evans will officiate.

Burial will follow at Ellard Cemetery in Monterey under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Evans was born January 7, 1938, in Catahoula Parish to Horace E. and Fannie H. Hedricks. He passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, in New Orleans.

Mr. Evans had been a resident of St. Bernard Parish for over 40 years. He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy and a retired boat captain and truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Evans; and two sisters, Dorothy Ellard and Estelle Chidel.

Survivors include three sons, Edward Evans, Kenneth Evans and Steven Edwards, all of Violet; two brothers, Horace Evans of Braithwaite and Clinton Scroggs of Metairie; six grandchildren, Ashleigh Evans, Marc Evans, Grant Evans, Blake Evans, Rachelle Evans and Jennifer Britton; two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a special companion, B.B.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
