Oaths of office will be administered to the Seventh Judicial District Court's two judges and new district attorney on Monday, January 12.

Judges Kathy Johnson of Division A and Leo Boothe of Division B will begin new six-year terms at that time.

Brad Burget, elected district attorney this past fall, will be given the oath of office. He served as first assistant District Attorney prior to his election.

Burget is replacing four-term Dist. Atty. John Johnson who decided not to seek another term.

Judge Boothe is scheduled to administer the oath to Burget, while Judge George Murray will administer the oaths to Judge Boothe and Judge Johnson.

Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber will serve as Master of Ceremonies in the program slated to begin at 10 a.m. in the courtroom at the courthouse in Vidalia.

Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland will provide the welcoming address.

Also scheduled will be the presentation of the Seventh Judicial District Bar Association Distinguished Service Award to attorney George Griffing. Catahoula Parish Clerk of Court Janet Payne will make the presentation.

A reception will follow downstairs at the courthouse.

The Seventh Judicial District court includes Catahoula and Concordia parishes.
