DANNY'S OWNER ASKS COUNCIL TO RECONSIDER LIQUOR LICENSE

The owners of Danny's Lounge appeared before the Vidalia Town Council Tuesday night requesting "a fair shake" following the board's refusal to renew the establishment's liquor license in December. Before a standing room only crowd, the almost two-hour meeting was so heated at times that Vidalia police officers had to help restore quiet.

CABLE CHANGES DISCUSSED IN VIDALIA

A representative of the local cable system updated the Vidalia Town Council and local residents Tuesday night on upcoming broadcast changes.

FERRIDAY COUNCIL VOTES TO CHANGE ALLEY NAME

The Ferriday Town Council on 2-0 vote agreed to change the name of Morning Star Alley to Rev. Johnnie Hollins Alley following a public hearing Tuesday night before a standing-room only crowd where many opinions were voiced.

FERRINGTON, TIFFEE RE-ELECT TO POLICE JURY OFFICES

Melvin Ferrington was re-elected president and Red Tiffee vice-president during the Concordia Parish Police Jury's first meeting of 2009.
