Rev. Shep Bethley, Jr.
Funeral services for Rev. Shep Bethley, Jr., 61, of Ferriday will be held Saturday, January 17, 2009, 11 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church in Clayton with Rev. Freddie Schiele officiating.
Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6 p.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church.
Rev. Bethley was born August 17, 1947, in Clayton to Shep and Sarah Gordon Bethley. He passed away January 8, 2009, at Riverland Medical Center.
He was a retired custodian for the Concordia Parish School System. He was also minister for Mt. Olive, Sunflower and Mt. Zion Baptist Churches in Ferriday, Triumph and Young's Chapel Baptist Churches in Vidalia, United Baptist Church in Natchez and a member of the Concordia Ministerial Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include seven sons -- Raymond Spurs and wife, Leslie, of Houston, TX, Bryant Bethley, Juneo Bethley and wife, Walexis, Demetrius Bethley and wife, Angela, Danny Meredith, Calvin Bethley and wife, Tenisha, all of Ferriday, Frederick Butler and wife, Shawanda, of Alexandria; two daughters -- LaDonna Bethley and husband, Carlos, and Letha Bethley, of Ferriday; two brothers -- Frank Brown, Sr. and wife, Delbra, James Bethley, all of Ferriday; four sisters -- Hattie Ruth Bethley and husband, Henry, Beatrice Brown and husband, Luke, Leatrice Allen and husband, Bobby, all of Ferriday, Merlee Marshall of Metairie; and his fiance', Judy Lewis of Ferriday. |
