Monterey boys and girls dropped a pair of non-district games as the Wolves and Lady Wolves prepare for District 3-B play.

On Friday, the Lady Wolves fell to Castor, 42-30.

Monterey trailed by six points with three minutes remaining, but the Lady Gators hit their free throws down the stretch to increase the lead.

"We just haven't learned how to be consistent," said Monterey Lady Wolf coach Cary Shively. "But they have been working hard."

Castor's boys defeated Monterey, 61-43.

On Tuesday night, Monterey's basketball teams travelled to Jena.

The Lady Wolves fell to the Lady Giants, 38-14, while Jena's boys defeated Monterey, 63-44

Monterey has an open date Friday before opening district play at home against Forest.
