A Ferriday man who serves on the Concordia Parish Republican Executive Committee and two Concordia Parish Police Jury committees has been arrested by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office on charges of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Emerson Slain, 38, of 248 Mack Moore Rd. in Ferriday was booked Wednesday morning at the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office in Vidalia on warrants for the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

In addition to serving on the parish Republican Executive Committee, Slain serves on two Police Jury committees -- Louisiana Workforce Investment Board and Kisatchie Delta Board.

According to the Baton Rouge Advocate, Slain allegedly had Internet conversations and engaged in cell-phone text messaging with a 14-year-old Ascension Parish girl and was involved in sexual activity with the girl in the parking lot of a retail store in November.
