Funeral services for Joseph Lee Simpson, 23, of Saint Joseph were held at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday, on Monday, January 26, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Daylon Hicks and Bro. Larry Foster officiating.

Interment followed at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Joseph was born July 15, 1985, in Natchez to Karen Moseley and Scotty Simpson. He passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro. He was a resident of St. Joseph.

Joseph graduated from Florence High School in Florence, MS, in 2003, where he played soccer and baseball. Upon graduation he worked as a land surveyor in Mississippi. He moved to St. Joseph to begin farming in 2004 with his grandfather Estel Simpson. Joseph loved to hunt and farm. He always made time for his family and friends. His loveable personality touched the hearts of everyone around him. He always made everyone laugh all the time and he was always there when anyone needed him. He will be loved and missed by all.

Survivors include his father, Scotty Simpson of St. Joseph; his mother, Karen Moseley and stepfather, Trey Moseley, of Braxton, MS; sisters -- Amanda Simpson of Baton Rouge and Hannah Arnold of Braxton; stepbrother, Niles Moseley of Brandon, MS; grandparents -- Winfred and Amanda Mize and Estel and Sue Simpson, all of St. Joseph; great-grandmothers -- Mary Murphy of St. Joseph and Marjorie Simpson of Leachville, AR; aunts and uncles -- Eric Mize of Alameda, CA, Danny and Angie Mize and cousins Alyssa and Danny Michael Mize of Paducah, KY, Jason and Amy Mize and cousins Jackson, Samuel and Parker Mize of Madison, MS, Davy Mize of St. Joseph, Hank and Patty Rabb and cousin Emily of St. Joseph, Brian and Karri Simpson and cousin Wesley of Natchez.

Pallbearers were Randall Borsch, Ryan Borsch, Chad Gregory, John Lamar Rhodes, Matt Vincent, and Jim White.

Honorary pallbearers were Cody Hill and Josh Russell.

Memorial donations may be made to Tensas Academy in St. Joseph.
