Catahoula Parish Ag Day slated
Catahoula Parish Ag Day will be held February 17, 2009 at Jonesville First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Registration begins at 8 a.m., program at 8:25 a.m., and the meeting will conclude at 12:30 p.m. with lunch.
Parish and area farmers whose private pesticide cards expire this year can renew their cards by attendance at this meeting.
The Ag Day program is as follows:
8:25: Welcome.
8:35: Master Farmer Program, Donna Morgan, LSU AgCenter, Assistant Area Agent.
8:45: Soybean, Corn and Grain Production, Dr. Ron Levy, LSU AgCenter Agronomist.
9:10: Soybean and Feed Grain Insect Control, Dr. Jack Baldwin, LSU AgCenter Entomologist.
9:35: Weed Control and Resistance in Soybeans and Cotton, Dr. Donnie Miller, LSU AgCenter Weed Specialist.
9:50: Break.
10: Weed and Grass Control in Corn, Dr. Bill Williams, LSU AgCenter Weed Specialist.
10:30: Pesticide Drift Control, Dr. Roberto Barbosa, LSU AgCenter Engineer.
11: Worker Protection Standards (WPS) for Farmers, 2008 Crop Demo Update on Soybean & Double Crop (Wheat/Soybeans), Glen Daniels, Area ANR Agent, Catahoula/Concordia parishes.
11:20: Soybean Disease Control 2009, Dr. Boyd Padgett, LSU AgCenter Plant Pathologist.
11:50: Soybean and Feed Grain Outlook, Dr. Kurt Guidry, LSU AgCenter Economist.
