The Town of St. Joseph will receive state funding for public works equipment and Newellton will receive $35,000 to purchase a trash truck for the maintenance department.

District 34 State Sen. Francis Thompson of Delhi and Rep. Andy Anders of Clayton made the announcement.

Thompson, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, said the funding is crucial in the continued efforts to rebuild North Louisiana.

"The storms from this past year cause millions of dollars of damage to roads, buildings and infrastructure and this financial support will allow us to follow through on much needed projects," said Thompson. "During these tough financial times, we are very fortunate to be able to receive funding to aid in the reconstruction efforts across our area such as road construction and rebuilding facilities due to the storms."

Lake Providence, the East Carroll Police Jury and the Madison Parish Police Jury also received funding.
