Vidalia runs by Avoyelles Vidalia High's boys improved to 25-1 on the season and 7-0 in District 3-3A with a 68-51 win over Avoyelles in Alexandria Tuesday.
Avoyelles led a Vidalia team battling the flu 11-10 after the first period before the Vikings took a 29-25 advantage at halftime.
Vidalia outscored Avoyelles 18-16 in the third period and 21-10 in the final quarter.
Gary Stewart led the way with 19 points, while Rolandin Webster and Quartrell Thomas added 11 points each.
"We've got five guys battling the flu and stomach viruses," said Vidalia assistant coach Damus Smith. "That slowed us down, along with us having about 30 fouls to 10 for Avoyelles. We hope our guys are well and ready for Friday at Bolton because we are aware of them beating Marksville last Friday."
Vidalia's girls fell to Avoyelles 69-21 as Gabrielle Wagoner, DeJanae Harris, Kelicia Reynolds and Kisha Swanson netted four points each. |
