Huntington second in district Huntington School's boys finished second in the District 6-A Tournament in Ferriday, defeating Claiborne Friday in the semifinals before fallling to Riverdale in the finals Saturday at Huntington.
"It was a good accomplishment getting to the finals," said Huntington coach David Boydstun. "Riverdale has a heckuva team. But we were proud to make it to the championship game. I was proud of our effort against Claiborne.
Riverdale defeated Huntington, 66-30.
Kevin Brown led the Hounds with 12 points, while Tyler Pere' added eight.
"We didn't move around well and our perimeter shots weren't falling," Boydstun said.
Huntington trailed Claiborne 19-17 at halftime before outscoring the Rebels 19-6 in the third period to take control of the contest.
Pere´ led Huntington wtih 14 points, while josh Lee added 13 and Phillip Washigton 12.
Tensas Academy's girls fell to Riverdale, 46-32 in the girls finals.
Tensas defeated Claiborne, 49-36 to reach the finals.
Mary Miller Ratcliff led Tensas with 20 points, while Jordan Leake scored eight, and Mary Elizabeth Crigler and Egan Ratcliff both chipped in with seven. |
