Catfish Festival slated in Winnsboro

The Franklin Parish Catfish Festival is looking for high-quality, unique arts and crafts for this year's event.

The festival will be held April 4 in downtown Winnsboro and typically features close to 300 arts and crafts and commercial vendors.

"We're hosting the largest one-day festival in Louisiana," director Paul Price said. "We have 15-20,000 visitors each year who enjoy the great family atmosphere, music and catfish. And they love to shop."

Price said the festival has always enjoyed an eclectic mix of arts, crafts and other sale items and organizers would like to encourage new vendors to participate.

"We are particularly interested in unique, handcrafted items from local and regional artisans," Price said. "This is an excellent opportunity for Louisiana's artists and craftsmen to showcase their talents."

Applications and details are available at the festival website, http://www.franklinparishcatfishfestival.com or call 318-435-7607. Deadline for application is March 7.

In addition to arts, crafts and commercial booths, the festival features high-quality musical entertainment on two stages, a huge display of antique cars and a very popular children's area.
