IN TODAY'S SENTINEL -- WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2009 SEARCH IN MISSISSIPPI CONTINUES FOR FISHERMAN
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office sonar boat will be used today (Wednesday) to search for a commercial fishing boat and missing fishermen Mack Kemp, 27.
SCHOOL BOARD FINANCES 'EXCELLENT'
The Concordia Parish School Board remains financially sound while other school systems struggle to make ends meet. That was the opinion of auditor Earnest Sasser, who told board members Thursday night that the local system's finances for the year ending June 30, 2008, were "excellent." He said the system was "very healthy."
FERRIDAY POOL, ALLEY ISSUES STILL UNRESOLVED
The Ferriday Town Council delayed action Tuesday night on two issues which have often drawn heated debate in the past -- the Ferriday swimming pool and renaming Morningstar Alley.
FUNDING SOURCES VIEWED FOR COMPLEX
The District Three Recreation Board has finalized some of the plans for the proposed $6 million recreation complex in Vidalia which will be located on 50 acres behind Wal-Mart. Board President Mark Archer said figuring out how to fund the complex remains a major task.
