Huntington first-year baseball coach Leo Eliser will be looking to beat the rain more than his opponents this week as the Hounds open their season with the first Huntington School Preseason Tournament.

The tournament starts Wednesday as Tallulah faces Wilkinson County Christian Academy at 4 p.m., followed by Adams County Christian School against Franklin Academy at 6 p.m. and Huntington facing Tensas parish at 8 p.m.

On Thursday, Huntington faces ACCS at 4 p.m., followed by Tensas against Tallulah at 6 p.m. and WCCA against Franklin at 8 .m.

Friday's play has Tensas taking on WCCA at 4 p.m., followed by Tallulah against Adams Christian and Huntington versus Franklin.

"I was talking with AC coach Hunter McKeiver and we talked about playing a practice game and then it turned into a round robin tournament," Eliser said. "This will give us a chance to look at four or five guys on the mound and see who might can play where." We're just hoping to get some games in at this stage."
