Waterproof officials post bonds Both the mayor and police chief of Waterproof posted bonds after their arrests last week.
The two men were indicted by the Tensas Parish Grand Jury on February 12 -- Mayor Bobby Higginbotham on 44 counts and Police Chief Miles Jenkins on three counts.
Both turned themselves in February 18 and posted bond. Higginbotham's bond was $100,000 and Jenkins' $20,000.
The mayor, who took office in 2007, was indicted on 18 counts of malfeasance in office, 21 counts of felony theft, four counts of public salary deduction and one count of unauthorized use of a movable.
The police chief was indicted on one count of reducing citations without authority under the law and two counts for receiving bonuses in his salary when his pay is fixed by the Board of Aldermen. |
