Vidalia teen stabbed in parking lot A 16-year-old Vidalia male was stabbed during a confrontation with other youth in the McDonald's Restaurant parking lot Tuesday night.
Vidalia Police Chief Tapper Hendricks said the 16-year-old's liver was punctured in the melee and "he has fluid on his lungs." Hendricks said the youth was expected to undergo surgery at a Natchez hospital today (Wednesday.)
"Apparently this was a situation that escalated from a dance last Saturday night at the junior high," said Hendricks. "There was some type of altercation between these juveniles there."
Hendricks said that at 8 p.m. Tuesday "the juvenile was dropped off by friends at McDonald's for a hamburger. He noticed outside that one of his friends was arguing with five guys. He went out to assist him and that's when the altercation began."
He said when the juvenile ran from the altercation "a knife fell out of him."
The knife used in the incident was located, said Hendricks, as were "a brick and some wooden sticks. Don't' know if these two things were used but they were at the crime scene."
He said the altercation was not gang-related. |
