Story Archives: Hounds fall to Riverdale

Hounds fall to Riverdale
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Huntington School first-year head coach Leo Eliser came close to earning his first win as the Hounds fell to Riverfield Academy 5-3 Tuesday.

Freshman Brandon Horne allowed only three hits in contest.

"Brandon really stepped up," Eliser said. "He had the bases loaded twice and worked out of it both times, forcing ground balls."

Hunington scored two of its runs in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Jess Dossett.

"We left five runners on base and had some errors in the field," Eliser said. "We're real young and I think right now a lot of it is mental. We've had some injuries and the basketball boys are still getting in baseball shape. We'll come around."

Huntington fell to Adams County Christian School 14-1 Monday. Joey Roberts doubled and had two singles for the Hounds in that contest.

Huntington (0-2) begins District 6-A play at 6 p.m. Friday, hosting Tallulah Academy.

"That's an important game for us," Eliser said. "We want to get off to a good start in district."
