Monterey hosts Tripleheader

Monterey's baseball team will host the Monterey Baseball Tripleheader Friday and Saturday.

"Coach (Hank) Zizzi used to do this about 10 years ago, so we decided we would bring it back," said Monterey head coach Eric Richard. "We're trying to generate some interest in our program and make some money at the same time."

Action begins Friday with Harrisonburg High taking on Georgetown High at 4 p.m.

Monterey faces Block at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Monterey's junior varsity team faces Block's JV team at 9:30 a.m.

Monterey's JV team faces Georgetown's JV team at 10:45 a.m.

Monterey's varsity faces Georgetown at noon, followed by Block against Harrisonburg at 2 p.m.

Bock facers Georgetown at 4 p.m., while Monterey takes on Harrisonburg at 6 p.m.

Each game will consist of six innings or a one hour and 45-minute time limit.

Admission is $4.

Monterey fell to Adams County Christian School 17-1 on Saturday.

The Wolves managed two hits in the contest.

The Wolves rebounded with a 4-3 win over Avoyelles Charter on Tuesday.

Tyler Trant was the winning pitcher.

Chance Cooper had a home run, while Ross Lipsey, Austin Lipsey and Nick Blake each singled.

"The more we play we can't help but get better," Richard said. "We struggled early, but we'll get better."
