Vikings baseball outscores Jena

Vidalia High defeated Jena 11-10 Monday in Jena.

Ben Parnham had a grand slam home run and singled for the Vikings.

Parnham's slam highlighted an 8-run first inning for the Vikings.

Winning pitcher Mason Ozburn doubled and singled.

Seth Thompson and Jake DeWeese also doubled and singled.

Matt Souderes and Dalton Slade both singled.

DeWeese started for the Vikings. Jamale Davis came in for relief and did not give up a run.

Vidalia lost to Block 12-1 and LaSalle 6-3 in the Mangham Tournament last week.

"I knew there would be growing pains," said Vidalia head coach Johnny Lee Hoffpauir. "But I can't complain about the lack of effort. We just make so many mental mistakes. We don't know the game. We don't react by instinct very well. But they play hard and we just go out and see what happens."

Vidalia hosts Adams County Christian School Thursday before facing Bolton and St. Joseph of Plaucheville Saturday in the Bolton Tournament.
