Monterey High scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Vidalia 4-3 in softball action Thursday at Monterey.

Winning pitcher Ellen Bairnsfather had two singles.

Ariel Hector doubled for the Lady Wolves.

Katlyn Wilson of Vidalia had two of the Lady Vikings' six hits.

Vidalia second baseman Caitlyn Hendricks fractured her foot crossing home plate and will be out for the season.

"That was my No. 2 hitter," said Vidalia coach Graham Roberts. "We have had some tough luck this season and we are going to miss her, but we'll just have to adjust."

The Lady Wolves fell to Harrisonburg 5-4 on Tuesday.

Vidalia lost three games at the Mangham Tournament on Saturday.

"I hate 50-minute time limit games," Roberts said. "You can be one run down and not have a chance to win the game because you run out of time."
