District 2 recreation financial report

The Concordia Parish Recreation District No. 2 annual financial report was released March 4 by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor.

CPA Jeri Sue Tosspon filed the financial report on behalf of the district, which includes the Monterey area. Betty Bairnsfather is the district secretary.

In the statement of revenue and expenditures in the governmental fund-general fund, revenues for the year ending Dec. 31, 2008, totaled $60,856, including $47,360, ad valorem taxes; $1,983, state revenue sharing; $2,328, federal revenue sharing; $2,253, interest earned; and $6,878, concessions, fees and services

Expenditures totaled $53,266, including $19,210, personal services and related benefits; $23,116, operating services; $5,460, materials and supplies; $3,265, insurance; and $2,215, capital outlay.

The district ended the year with $7,590 in excess revenue over expenditures.

The report noted that the district was created by the Police Jury on Nov. 27, 1957, and is governed by five commissioners who each serve terms of five years on a rotating basis. The district is provided its land by the School Board under an agreement which expires in 2017.
