Ferriday falls to Jonesboro-Hodge
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ferriday fell to Jonesboro-Hodge Tuesday in Ferriday in their District 2-2A opener at Ferriday Junior High School.

"We had eight walks and four errors and the bottom dropped out," said Ferriday coach George Barnes. "This is the first game where we have gotten beat bad. The kids are still learning and playing hard."

Jonesboro-Hodge scored one run in the top of the first inning.

Ferriday tied the game in the bottom of the first as Dee Garrison walked and Nieco Amado doubled to left field.

A pick-off attempt at third base allowed Garrison to score Ferriday's first run.

Jonesboro-Hodge scored three runs in the second inning.

Ferriday split a pair of games with Pointe Coupee Saturday.

Ferriday dropped the first game 3-2, but came back to win the second game 13-9.

Marques Lewis, Charles Chandler and Nieco Amado led the Trojans at the plate.

Ferriday was scheduled to play Harrisonburg today (Wednesday) at home and Lake Providence on Thursday, but those games have been rained out.
