Hinson, Lane shine at MC

Two Vidalia natives are pacing the Mississippi College baseball team.

Senior Brett Hinson is 4-2 on the season with a 2.95 earned run average.

Hinson, a former Vidalia High standout, has walked 12 and struck out 47.

Hinson pitched four strong innings against Belhaven Tuesday night, but the Blazers scored six unearned runs in the contest to defeat MC.

Senior Charlie Lane is hitting .409, scoring 22 runs with three RBIs.

Lane, who graduated from Cathedral High, has a slugging percentage of .594.

Former Vidalia High standout Jordan Brewer is playing catcher at Holmes Community College and is hitting .265. He has scored 18 runs and has one home run. Brewer was moved from shortstop to catcher because of an injury to the regular catcher. Brewer caught MLB pitcher Roy Oswalt during the winter in preparation for the change.
