DELTA MUSIC FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

A great weekend celebrating music is planned in downtown Ferriday this weekend. The eighth annual Delta Music Festival will offer a day of musical entertainment Saturday and on Sunday brings Ferriday native Mickey Gilley to the Arcade Theatre stage for two performances. Gilley will be bringing his Branson band and show for the performances which are sold out.

RAINS BRING DRAINAGE ISSUES BACK TO FOREFRONT

More than a foot rise is expected on the Mississippi River at Vidalia next week, but the river stage is far below its level last year at this time despite more than 10 inches of rainfall which fell in some areas of Concordia last week.

BLACK RIVER LAKE PROJECT WILL HELP EASE DRAINAGE WOES

A $3.6 million flood control/recreation project on Black River Lake -- already funded and now being assessed for its environmental impact -- would have provided some drainage relief last week when more than 10 inches of rain fell in some locations in the parish.

CLAYTON GETS GRANTS FOR SEWERAGE, TOWN HALL

The Town of Clayton has been awarded two grants -- almost a half million for its sewerage system and $25,000 to upgrade town hall.
