Ferriday track team shines

Ferriday High recorded several first place finishes at the Mangham Dragon Relays on Monday.

Ferriday's boys finished second in the meet, while Ferriday's girls placed third.

Gary Mays took first in the mile and 3,200-meter runs, Marques Lewis finished first in the 300-meter hurdles and Kendall Boxley placed first in the triple jump.

Mays also placed second in the 800-meter dash, and Lewis took third in the 110-meter hurdles.

Ferriday's 1600-relay team of Alfred Brown, Boxley, ZuRaine Thompson and Lewis placed first.

William Greer, Devante Scott, Julius White and Neico Amado placed second in the 4x200-meter relay, and Boxley placed second in the mile run.

Brown was second in the 300-meter hurdles, and Greer, Amado, White and Scott finished second in the 4x100-meter relay.

Amado finished second in both the triple jump and the long jump, and Scott took second in the 200-meter dash.

The 800- and 400-meter relay teams — consisting of T'Keyah Fletcher, Chanta Poole, Deonka Birdon and Robie Parker — placed second, and the 1600-meter relay team of Keara White, Morgan Stigall, Andrea Johnson and Parker took third.

Fletcher placed first in the 800-meter dash, and Stigall finished second. Poole finished second in 300-meter hurdles and third in high jump, and White finished second in both the mile and the 3200-meter run.

Parker took second in the triple jump.

Ferriday will compete April 11 in the Rayville High Track Meet in Rayville.
