Funeral services for Mr. Gerry Thomas Buckles, 21, of Alexandria, were held at Young's Funeral Home on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 1 p.m. with Rev. A.B. Masters officiating under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Buckles was born February 17, 1988, in Natchez and moved into Heavens hands on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Though his life here on this earth was short, he touched the lives of many and he will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Jefferson McVay Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Jean Starr of Leesville; father and step mother, Gerry and Carmen Buckles of Ferriday; maternal grandmother, Teresa McVay of Haynesville; maternal grandmother, Linda Sue McVay of Ferriday; paternal grandfather, Gerry and his wife Lydia Buckles of Summit, MS; paternal grandmother, Liz and her husband Dewayne Sikes of Ferriday; three sisters -- Cassie Buckles, Jessica Venard and Megan Venard of Leesville; brother, Matthew Buckles of Ferriday; uncle, Michael Buckles of Vidalia; aunts -- Kathy Cloud of Rogers, AR, Rebecca and David Gifford of Minden, Christina and John Flora of Leesville, Chasity and Brian Seals of Ridgecrest; 15 cousins; and numerous other family friends.
