Guy Lee Tarver Funeral services for Guy Lee Tarver, 89, of Ferriday were held today, Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 2 p.m. at Clayton Pentecostal Church with Rev. Melton Rushing officiating.
Burial followed at Cypress Grove Cemetery in Dunbarton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Mr. Tarver was born April 9, 1920, in Concordia Parish to Randall B. and Molly M. Tarver. He passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Tarver had been a lifelong resident of Concordia Parish and a retired farmer. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Asian Theater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katie M. Tarver; brother, Elvin B. Tarver; and two sisters, Ruby Bennett and Bernice Halford.
Survivors include two sons -- Donald Tarver and wife, Stephanie, of Marion, and Ronald Tarver of Ferriday; two sisters -- Hazel Chandler of Ferriday and Irene Bruitt of Wildsville; five grandchildren -- Jeremy Randall Tarver of Ferriday, Dustin Michael Tarver of Denver, CO, Donald Matthew Tarver of Vidalia, Desiree Tarver and Chelsea Tarver of Marion.
Pallbearers were Dustin Tarver, Edward Franklin, Matt Tarver, Tony Smith, Jeremy Tarver, Travis Brewer, Gary Halford and Brock Halford. |
