Vidalia routs Block
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Vidalia High head baseball coach Johnny Lee Hoffpauir was going to save his top pitchers for his final two district games against Avoyelles on Thursday and Marksville on Saturday as his team hosted Block Tuesday.

No problem.

Junior B.J. Neely, freshman Tucker Bruce and junior Trey Lillie combined to hold Block to six hits, walking only three. The Viking pitchers had the luxury of 16 runs, as well, as Vidalia posted a 16-4 win over the Bears.

Vidalia scored five runs in the first inning as Mason Ozburn walked,

Seth Thompson doubled, Jake DeWeese and Ben Parnham walked, Seth Barlow doubled and Trey Lillie singled. Matt Souderes then reached on an error.

Vidalia added seven runs in the sixth as Barlow and Souderes singled, Caleb Vines and Ozburn doubled, Thompson was hit by a pitch and Parnham hit a home run to end the game by mercy rule.
