Monterey posts win over Harrisonburg
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Monterey picked up its fifth win of the season as the Wolves defeated Harrisonburg 6-1 in Harrisonburg Tuesday.

Hunter Fry pitched three innings, while Tyler Trant finished the final two.

Nick Blake and Chance Cooper had RBIs for the Wolves.

"We got good pitching and had probably one of our best defensive games of the season," said Monterey coach Eric Richard. "We have played our best back-to-back games of the season and I think a lot of that has to do with the team meshing. I'm really proud of them."

Monterey hosts Harrisonburg on Monday.

Richard said he expects his team to get a No. 30, 31 or 32 seed in the Class B playoffs.

"The playoffs will be a good experience for this team and you never know what can happen," Richard said. Baseball is the most unpredictable of all sports. Either way, it's going to be good for our team."
