The 37-year-old Ferriday man wanted by the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office on a charge of attempted second-degree murder turned himself in to authorities shortly after noon today, according to Sheriff Randy Maxwell.

George Green, 102 T's Road, was booked in at the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office in connection with the Sunday night shooting of Damion N. White, 32, of Ferriday.

"We've been talking to the suspect's family since the start of this investigation," commented Sheriff Randy Maxwell. "I want to thank them for their cooperation in this matter. I appreciate their help. They did the right thing that enabled us to bring this to a conclusion without anyone else being injured ñ either the suspect or law enforcement."

White was reportedly shot three times -- once in the left knee, once in the right calf and once in the left elbow -- while sitting in a chair on the corner of Earl Davis and Doty Roads in Ferriday. He was treated and released from an area hospital. The victim claimed that the incident stemmed from a bar fight two nights prior to the shooting.
